Contemporary Chalet With Rustic Atmosphere by . While additions were made to this sunny chalet built in traditional style, the character of the home was to be preserved as much as possible. In contrast to old, untreated wood, faintly imprinted wood surfaces in soft colors were selected to compliment the deerskin and the bright, natural textiles. Bernd Gruber’s custom creations and designs blend together well in this rustic atmosphere.
The visibility of technical devices and systems was kept to a bare minimum here. For instance, the TV hides behind a family portrait – along with the stereo system – and is only revealed when needed. On the other hand, in order to unveil and bring part of the Kitzbühel landscape indoors, the southern façade was opened up entirely and completely encased in glass.
A special sand-blasted oak was used to create the dinner table, which gives the corners and edges of the table an incomparable texture. Meanwhile, the waxed metal frame not only is reminiscent of traditional craftsmanship but also, at the same time, serves to protect the outer corners of the table.
